Short Program
In this program, Grade 9–11 credits are transferred from the student’s local high school. By completing 8 courses, the student qualifies for the OSSD. Typically beginning in Grade 10 or 11, the program lasts 3–4 terms (1–1.5 years). With this pathway, students can access private universities in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and beyond. The fastest and most economical route to the OSSD.
A focused, intensive pathway designed for students completing their local high school, offering the opportunity to graduate with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in just 1 to 1.5 years.
Program Summary
The Short Program is the fastest and most economical route to the OSSD. Students continue at their local high school, transferring 22 credits, and complete 8 Ontario courses with OIHS. By taking 2–3 courses per term, students can earn a second diploma within 8–12 months.
Who Is It For?
- Current Grade 11–12 students or recent graduates
- Students seeking to enhance their local diploma with an Ontario diploma in order to apply to universities in North America or select private European universities
University Admissions
- Universities and colleges in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
- Many private universities in Europe and some public universities
⚠️ Note: Some European public universities require evidence of both Grade 11 and Grade 12 coursework. In such cases, this program alone may not meet admission requirements.
Course Plan
The Ontario high school system allows students to tailor their courses to their interests and goals. For the OSSD, students must take:
- 2 required courses: Careers & Civics, Literacy
- 6 Grade 12 courses, including compulsory English and Mathematics

Flexibility
Courses may be completed at the student’s own pace and format:
- All 8 credits can be completed in two intensive terms, or spread across up to four terms.
- The mix of synchronous (live) or asynchronous (self-paced) courses is determined together with the student.
Tuition Information
- Total Program Fee: CAD 12,000 (8 courses)
- Payment Plan: Installments available (typically 2 payments). Payment schedule and contract are finalized during enrollment.
